Hi, My name is Farmer Joe and at Great Lakes Farms I am "The Apple Guy"
The 2015 season is a wild one so far. We had two cold nights during bloom time. We had helicopters in to try and protect the crop, but despite our best efforts temperatures got to -2.5 C and it is now evident that we have about a 20% -30% crop. Some varieties are hit harder than others, and some apples will look kind of ugly (these apples are perfect for pie).
We have some peaches in the tops of the trees. We expect our first freestone peaches to be ready August 7. We are also busy preparing for PEACHFEST. It is August 15, and 16. We will be open for pick your own peaches, peach baked goods. There will be activities for the kids and more. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for more info. Take care,
